Maplewood, NJ – September 4, 2018 - The GenWealth Group is providing the community with an opportunity to shred sensitive, personal documents at no cost. The event will be held on Thursday, September 20, 2018 at their offices located at 6 Inwood Place, Maplewood. A secure mobile document shredding truck will be onsite from 4:00pm to 6:00pm
“Today’s news is filled with stories about identity theft. As thieves get smarter, protecting personal information is more important than ever. We’re hosting this event to give our community an opportunity to properly dispose of sensitive documents,” said Cherie Leanza, Vice President, Marketing.
Members of the community must be present to witness the secure destruction of their documents and may not drop off materials in advance. Materials may include paper, notebooks, binders, and files. Paper clips and fasteners do not have to be removed. All shredded materials will be recycled. This event is for personal materials only. Commercial/business entities cannot be accommodated.
“Shredding is a simple way to help ensure that your trash doesn’t become someone else’s treasure. Bank statements, old credit cards, even your everyday cable bill can contain information about you that may be useful to thieves. We encourage everyone to come out and take advantage of this service,” said Leanza.
Non-confidential materials, such as books, magazines, newspapers, etc., should be recycled through local municipal recycling programs and will not be accepted. In addition, medical waste, batteries or food items cannot be accepted.
